We have made three arrests following an incident in Birkenhead in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, 23 June.
At around 1.05am, it was reported that a man and woman in their 20’s were confronted by a group of youths outside the Crown pub on Conway Street, before being assaulted by them.
The man sustained a serious but non-life threatening stab wound to his stomach and the woman sustained minor injuries. A third male, in his 50’s, who attempted to help suffered a minor injury after he was punched by one of the offenders.
Emergency services attended and three males aged 16, 17 and 18 all from Birkenhead were arrested on suspicion of assault and taken to a local police station for questioning.
CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
Detective Chief Inspector Gayle Rooney said: “We know there were a lot of people in the area at this busy time in the early hours and I would ask anyone with information to come forward.
“Knife crime is unacceptable in our communities and we will do our utmost to ensure those responsible are put before the courts and brought to justice.”
