We're appealing for witnesses to a stabbing in Meols, Wirral last night, Friday 12 July.
At around 10.55pm, officers were called to the Railway pub on Birkenhead Road to reports that a man in his 30s had sustained minor stab wounds to his neck and back.
He was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment and later discharged himself, and is not currently assisting us with enquiries.
CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries are ongoing and detectives want to hear from anyone at or near to the pub last night, or who has heard any information since.
Detective Inspector Paul Parry: "We think that all those involved know each other and were drinking together last night. We are carrying out enquiries to locate the perpetrators of the assault.
"This all appears to happened following an argument and subsequent fist fight in the pub, which escalated in the use of a bladed weapon. As with all violent crime, it is by chance alone that serious or even fatal injuries were not sustained, so it is vital that people who carry dangerous weapons are taken off the streets.
"Such violence is extremely rare in the Meols area and I'm sure those in the community will share our determination to find those responsible. Tell us what you know, what you saw and what you have heard: we'll do the rest."
Anyone with information can contact @MerPolCC, call 101 with reference 1133 of 12 July, or come forward to @CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111.
